Papa John's Apologizes For Comments About NFL Player Protests, Says 'F*ck Neo Nazis'

Papa John's apologizes for

First, CEO John Schnatter accused the National Football League of hurting the chain's sales and profits with its ongoing protests, leading to the Daily Stormer giving the pizza the designation of official pizza of the alt-right.

In a series of tweets on Tuesday, the company apologized to anyone who found the comments "divisive". Many on Twitter were unimpressed with Papa John's apology, noting that it came too late and that it seemed to stand directly in contrast to what the company's CEO, John Schnatter, had said on the earnings call earlier in November. One user asked "what took so long for the 'clarification, '" to which Papa John's replied, "When it became obvious our position wasn't clear we made a decision to act".

"This should have been nipped in the bud a year and a half ago", Schnatter said. "NFL leadership has hurt Papa John's shareholders".

This time it's Papa John's, which apologized to customers via Twitter for being "divisive" with its comments about the NFL.

After the statements, a white-supremacist publication claimed Papa John's as their official pizza.

Others sought to explain the point of the National Football League protest to Papa John's, with one user saying, "How abt understanding the issue first". The controversy kicked off after San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a knee during the national anthem previous year, inspiring other players to engage in similar forms of protest to recognize racial inequality and police brutality.
