Packers RB Aaron Jones out 3-6 weeks with MCL injury

Now things have gotten worse for the team as their best running back, Aaron Jones, injured his MCL and is out 3-6 weeks, according to Adam Schefter.

Jones was carted off the field in the first quarter on Monday after seeing the first four touches out of the Packers' backfield. He has three touchdown runs with two 100-yard games since he became the starter in Week 4 after Ty Montgomery suffered broken ribs.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network described Jones' injury as a "sprained MCL" on Sunday. Among the rushes were three Wildcat plays with receiver Randall Cobb taking the direct snap and rushing for minus-1, 6 and 3 yards on those plays. Coach Mike McCarthy said Montgomery is "still going through tests".

Jones' timetable for return makes it possible Jones could miss most of the season.

The carriers are required to meet up in the Sea of Japan during the week off the Korean Peninsula, according to a U.S. defense official.

Jones has 370 yards on 70 carries this season.

The fifth-round pick's absence, no matter how long, takes on extra significance considering Montgomery was also forced from Sunday's action with a rib injury. If he misses only three weeks, he could return on December 10 against the Cleveland Browns.

Depending on the severity of Montgomery's injury, the Packers may need to make a roster move at running back.

Green Bay Packers rookie running back Aaron Jones looked poised to have a breakout year.
