When Cam Newton is having fun, the Carolina Panthers are a unsafe team and they proved that in a 45-21 win over the Miami Dolphins.

When the smoke clears, look for the Panthers to cut into the Dolphins' series lead with a 27-23 triumph.

The Carolina Panthers put together by far their most complete game of the season on Monday night, as they obliterated the Dolphins, 45-21, in prime time to move to 7-3 on the season. That helped Carolina to a season-high point total against the NFL's lowest-scoring team.

Four plays later, Newton connected with Ed Dickson on a 7-yard touchdown pass. The Miami franchise record for yards allowed is 611.

Packers RB Aaron Jones out 3-6 weeks with MCL injury
Jones was carted off the field in the first quarter on Monday after seeing the first four touches out of the Packers' backfield. Depending on the severity of Montgomery's injury, the Packers may need to make a roster move at running back.

The Dolphins will face one of the better defenses in Carolina, so it's not likely their offense will explode tonight. Quarterback Jay Cutler threw for 311 yards and three touchdowns in the losing effort. The Dolphins' offense was bad. The Dolphins dealt starting running back Jay Ajayi to the Eagles at the trade deadline; he has been replaced in their backfield by Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams. Things didn't change much in the second half even though Miami was desperate to score and passing for most of the third and fourth quarters.

The Dolphins closed the gap with 2:12 left in the half when Cutler's flip pass to tight end Julius Thomas went for a 2-yard touchdown.

Panthers: Rookie wide receiver Curtis Samuel left the game in the third quarter with an ankle injury after dropping a would-be touchdown pass in the end zone. The Panthers' quarterback also rushed for 95 yards on the night, including a 69-yard gain in the third quarter that electrified the fans at Bank of America Stadium.
