J&K: 1 soldier, terroist killed in Kulgam encounter

The gunfights erupted in Kulgam and Pulwama districts, south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

A police spokesman said security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Nowbug-Kund village of Kulgam on Tuesday morning after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

Officials said that troops of Rashtriya Rifles along with Special Operation Group were patrolling Zachaldara area when militants fired on the forces.
