In an interview with a television station that he owns, the Saudi-allied Hariri, Lebanon's most influential Sunni Muslim politician, gave his first public comments since he read out his resignation on television from Riyadh eight days ago.

He indicated the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of Lebanese in the Gulf could be at risk, as well as trade, vital to the stability of the Lebanese economy.

Meanwhile, in a statement released by Aoun's office on Saturday, the Lebanese president expressed concern over Hariri's situation and said the premier was living in a "dubious" situation in Saudi Arabia.

The Lebanese prime minister announced his resignation following visits to Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia announced it shut down all ports after a November 4 ballistic missile attack on Riyadh near its worldwide airport by the Houthis.

Saudi Arabia has stepped up its rhetoric against Hezbollah and Iran, accusing both of supporting Shiite rebels in Yemen. Aoun refused to accept Hariri's resignation unless he tendered it in person in Lebanon.

In a live interview shown on his Future TV, Hariri said he had resigned to protect Lebanon from imminent danger, although he didn't specify who was threatening the country.

Hariri explained that his resignation was not officially accepted in Lebanon because it was announced from Riyadh. But later in the interview, he plotted a new twist: He said he may be tempted to stay in power after all.

2 militants reportedly killed in encounter in north Kashmir
Two militants were killed and a policeman injured in a gunbattle in Handwara area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Monday. Jeelani said identity of the slain militants and the outfit to which they owe allegiance was being ascertained.

In his November 12 address, Hariri said he would return to seek a settlement with the militant group Hezbollah, his rivals in the coalition government.

About two minutes before the end of the interview, which lasted an hour and-a-half, she returned after a break and pointed to where the man was standing and stated that the man is "one of his staff". Hariri's family lives in Riyadh.

"The Lebanese people have been waiting for him (Hariri) to return because the situation has come to a stop and the Lebanese people have been unsettled", el-Rai said.

The announcement comes after Yemeni transport minister Murad Al Halimi said on Friday that airports in the government-held cities of Aden and Seiyun, in Hadramawt province, would be reopening. His father, former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, was killed by a auto bomb in Beirut in 2005.

A picture of Lebanon's prime minister appeared this week on the front of a popular daily newspaper below the headline "The Hostage". When asked about reports that he is not communicative and doesn't use his phone much, he said: "I am in a reflective state", adding that he didn't want any distractions amid a very busy schedule.

Joanne Hamza, a physical education teacher who wore a cap with a picture of Hariri on it, said he was missed at the race.
