Delhi Undertrial shot dead in Rohini Court complex

Earlier, on April 29, a prisoner was shot dead in the premises of Rohini court when he was being produced in the court for a hearing.

A man facing trial for cheating was shot dead in a court complex here on Monday, police said. He was being produced in the court by the staff of Third Battalion. The killer, Abdul Khan, was overpowered and arrested by the police.

According to the news reports where the event occurred in the passageway near the canteen block when the undertrial was doing carried back from the court, while the police responded.

This was the second shootout near the court complex.

Meanwhile, the in-charge of the Rohini police post, sub-inspector Narender, has been placed under suspension and Ashok Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO), Prashant Vihar police station, has been sent to district lines.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 11.40 am. The undertrial was shot from the rear as he came out of the court building escorted by two police officers of the third battalion.Following the shooting, the second at the court this year, the police post incharge has been suspended and the SHO of the area police station (Prashant Vihar) sent to district lines pending inquiry, DCP (Rohini) Rishi Pal said.Police officers said the undertrial was sacked upon from the rear around 11am.During probe, it was revealed that Vinod had been under custody for the past 14 days. The court extended his custody for next 14 days. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, reported NDTV. The police is investigating and more details are awaited. While he was being taken back, he was shot at by an assailant at 11.20 am. The businessman had then lodged a case against Vinod in Rohini (South) police station.

Such incidents do raise questions on the level of security at the court. Khan is married and has a kid, said police.
