Seahawks to sign Byron Maxwell in wake of Richard Sherman injury

Byron Maxwell signing with Seattle Seahawks, per reports

Maxwell, a Clemson grad who was a sixth-round pick of the Seahawks in 2011, arrived in Seattle Sunday and had a meeting with the Seahawks Monday and has agreed to a one-year deal, according to reports.

Maxwell signed with Philadelphia in free agency after the 2014 season but lasted just one year with the Eagles and was traded to Miami before the 2015 season.

Former South Carolina standout Mike Davis has promoted from practice squad to the 53-man roster for the Seattle Seahawks, the team announced Tuesday.

Friendships and flattery aside, the Falcons and Seahawks will square off next Monday night in a game that could have serious playoff implications down the line for both teams.

Prosise suffered another ankle injury against Arizona on Thursday and will end his second season with Seattle having gained 23 yards on 11 carries and catching six passes for 87 yards.

It's unclear what exact role Maxwell will have in Seattle's secondary.

Expect rookie Shaq Griffin or the recently-signed Byron Maxwell to draw the unenviable assignment of covering Jones in Sherman's place. So it doesn't sound as though Shead will be ready to come off the physically unable to perform list for at least a few more weeks if at all.

Sherman ruptured his Achilles in last week's win over the Arizona Cardinals and is out for the year.
