Armenian PM extends condolences to First Vice-President of Iran on devastating earthquake

According to official tallies, at least 420 Iranians died and over 7,370 others were injured after the quake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale, whose epicenter was near Halabjah, southeast of Iraq's Sulaymaniyah, left massive damages in the Iranian border province.

The report Tuesday afternoon by the IRNA news agency said the number of injured in the temblor now stood at 7,460.

Over 200 aftershocks have hit the region since Sunday quake.

The head of the elite Revolutionary Guards, Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari, said many older buildings collapsed.

She said now that rescue operations had ended, the priority was getting people into shelters as quickly as possible, and that the delivery of aid was on track.

The Iranian Red Crescent said many areas lacked water and electricity and that aid supplies were being hampered by blocked roads.
