Rajasthan Vigilantes allegedly kill Muslim man in Alwar for transporting cows

While the panchayat leader, Sher Muhammad, alleged that the murderers tried to show the incident as an accident by throwing Ummar's body on railway tracks. But he refused to use the so-called term cow vigilantes, who have over the past year become synonymous with a string of attacks on cattle traders across India. In last month of October, police snatched around 51 cows from a Muslim family of Alwar after Hindutva groups launched a protest on the pretext of that the family kept cows to slaughter.

According to the victim's family, three persons were transporting some cows from Alwar to a village in Bharatpur. Critics accuse the vigilantes of using cows as a pretext to target Muslims and Dalits. The report also alleged that there has been "medical manipulation" in the case. There have been instances of transporters firing at them, or even police, and fleeing.

Alwar: The Rajasthan home minister on Monday said the police have arrested one suspect in the case involving murder of a Muslim man allegedly by cow vigilantes in Alwar district on Friday. It wasn't clear how he was wounded.

"A auto with five or six people accosted us on the way by pelting stones at us". The other two ran away from the scene, Tahir Muhammad (one of them) got himself admitted to a hospital. After hearing of the attack, villagers set out to look for Umar's body that was found on Friday evening.

Anil Beniwal, assistant SP, Alwar (south), told Hindustan Times the whole incident was being wrongly presented by combining two different incidents: "We have found one body in Ramgarh on Railway tracks while police has found five cows and one dead cow in a pickup near Govindgarh".
