Watch Taylor Twellman's passionate rant after US men fail to qualify for World Cup

Taylor Twellman

The US have now failed to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1986 and Twellman let everyone know how he felt about that embarrassing situation.

The 37-year-old described it as an "utter embarrassment" that the USA couldn't get a draw from Trinidad and Tobago, and left a warning to the players in the team.

Mostly, though, the joke was on the men's soccer team.

'Certainly, I think if our league [the MLS] continues to grow it benefits the national team program, ' Arena told reporters Tuesday.

"If there's no changes coming, then we all might as well go play in oncoming traffic because that's got a better opportunity of having a different result than this".

"Unacceptable", tweeted former Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala, a U.S. Soccer Federation board member. To make any kind of insane changes I think would be foolish.

"If this failure does not wake up everyone from U.S. soccer to Major League Soccer from Pay-to-Play to broadcasters to everything, then we're all insane", Twellman said.

One petition to fire Arena has already been started. We have players playing overseas of some quality.

Twellman did not stop at blaming U.S. Soccer, saying a lot of the blame is on the shoulders of the players. Previous coach Jurgen Klinsmann did not have the USA on tract to qualify for the World Cup after home losses to Mexico and Costa Rica. "I think it's just kind of been building up", former US defender Marcelo Balboa said Wednesday.

Twellman played for the Revolution from 2002-2010, scoring 101 goals.
