Petrol bunks strike from October 12 midnight

Tribune News ServiceJalandhar, October 10The United Petroleum Front (UPF) has announced a nation-wide strike of dealers on October 13 to press for demands, including better margins and inclusion of petroleum products in the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Disclosing this at a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here this morning, Federation of Mysuru Petroleum Traders President Shashikala Nagaraj said that petrol bunks in city would remain close from the midnight of October 12 to the midnight of October 13.

Earlier, the petrol and diesel dealers' strike against daily revision of petrol and diesel prices scheduled on June 16 was deferred. However, pumps owned and operated by OMCs will not take part in the strike.

"We have already appealed to dealers that they should see reason".

The oil companies appealed for calling off the strike and issued a warning to the dealers that if they don't adhere to the order, it will result in the cancellation of their respective dealerships. Issuing a soft warning to dealers, Canth said: "Let me remind you this is an essential commodity, so essential commodities Act is applicable here".
