Nehra to call it a day in internationals

Is Ashish Nehra's retirement at homeground a deal

The official intimated that Nehra would have called it quits after the third T20I in Australia but for there being a match at his home ground so soon afterwards. I can play for another couple of years but it isn't easy for a fast bowler at 38-39, especially considering the state of my body.

Veteran India pacer Ashish Nehra on Thursday said he will call an end to his cricket career after the first Twenty20 worldwide (T20I) against New Zealand at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi on November 1. "I feel this is the right time and my decision has been welcomed", he added.

"But I train only to play for India and once I retire from worldwide cricket, I will not play in the IPL as well", the left-armer said.

"It is always better to retire when people are saying why rather than why not. Had there not been a match at Kotla next month, Ashish would have retired after playing the third T20 worldwide at Hyderabad on October 13", the official added. "It can't get bigger than getting to retire in front of your home crowd", Nehra said.

An official in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told news agency Press Trust of India that Nehra informed coach Ravi Shastri and captain Virat Kohli about his decision.
