Harry Redknapp Replaced By A Former Ireland Midfielder As Birmingham City Boss

Harry Redknapp And Birmingham City Have “Parted Ways”

It was a bit of a surprise when Harry Redknapp joined Birmingham City at the end of last season, in some ways more so when he kept them up, but this season he hasn't lasted long at all.

Redknapp has been replaced by former Republic of Ireland midfielder Lee Carsley.

Birmingham parted company with former Tottenham and West Ham boss Redknapp after slumping to a 3-1 defeat at home to Preston, one which leaves them 23rd in the Championship table.

The 70-year-old took charge of the club with three games remaining last term, winning the final two games to avoid relegation on the final day.

There will be no further comment at this time.

"The Blues are in the bottom three and after spending money and been expected to be challenging at the summit, Harry has paid an early price for poor results".

Ferguson's six TD passes fuel Memphis' upset of No. 25 UCLA
Memphis responded with a four-play, 81-yard drive, the final 3 yards coming on Ferguson's pass to Phil Mayhue with 9:56 left. Memphis has played three home games because its September 9 game at Central Florida was postponed due to Hurricane Irma.

However, despite signing 14 players during the summer transfer window, Redknapp has been unable to build upon his strong start.

Birmingham have lost seven of their 10 games across all competitions this season, including each of their last six. He takes the job in a caretaker role.

Speaking after the loss to Preston but before his departure was announced, Redknapp told BBC WM 95.6: "Fans deserve better and that was my motivation to carry on this season".

Birmingham's next match on Saturday, 23 September is away to Rowett's current side, Derby County.

"I had to do well this year but I would have stayed because I loved it there, absolutely loved my time there".
