Philippe Coutinho has submitted a transfer request at English football club, Liverpool as he looks to move to Barcelona.

After various reports that Liverpool are adamant that they will not sell star midfielder Philippe Coutinho, Sky Sports has reported that the Brazilian has handed in his transfer request to makes his move to Barcelona.

However, just hours later, the player himself stunned the Kop faithful - who were finally starting to relax - by handing in a transfer request.

On Wednesday, the Reds rejected a 100 million euros bid (£90 million) from Barcelona for the 25-year-old, who is out of today's trip to Watford with injury.

Many Liverpool fans are anxious their club have done relatively little in the transfer market, signing only three players, and so far failing to land their two most significant targets - RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita and Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.

However, by lunch time on the eve of the club's season opener at Watford, they were anticipating his request with some media outlets reporting he had already sent it through.

Earlier on Friday, Liverpool's owners, Fenway Sports Group, released a statement on Friday saying "no offers for Philippe will be considered".

Jurgen Klopp backed the owners' stance on Coutinho and the statement came as much needed relief for Liverpool fans as the Coutinho saga seemingly came to an end.

According to The Mirror, Liverpool are interested in signing the former Celtic centre-back in the summer transfer window. And that is all I have to say.

"I can't keep players happy". "Some had clauses, some had no clauses; we had the Lewandowski thing and that was hard when he went to Bayern then on a free transfer. When Sadio is also on the pitch, we have it on two wings if you want and that's another good thing, so that's how we try to develop our game now and hopefully we can see it at Watford".

"The club is bigger than anybody". That is how I understand.

"All the questions we're asking now is about players leaving, bit the ones at the club". Maybe everybody has a price - in the right moment.
