A few of the ways family and friends from near and far described Justine Damond Friday night during a public memorial service at Lake Harriet in Minneapolis.

"I have huge gratitude for being the one she chose", he added.

Her fiance, Don Damond, 50, said it "felt like a privilege to love Justine" as they had been preparing to get married next week in Hawaii.

He read some of the uplifting messages she would free-write every morning and called her a "living example of self-mastery".

Ruszczyk said his daughter was killed by a bullet, that was sacked by an agent of the state, and he will continue to seek justice.
