Breitbart's war on McMaster bites Bannon

"I think he needed to be much harsher as it related to the white supremacists and the nature of that".

Scaramucci also bashed the influence of Bannon, the former Breitbart News executive.

"I think at the end of the day, the president knows who are the leakers ― the people undermining his agenda that are serving their own interests", Scaramucci said.

"What happens in Washington.is the President is not a representative of the political establishment class, so for whatever reason the people have made a decision that they want to eject him", he told George Stephanopoulos on This Week on ABC News on Sunday. "He has to move away from that Bannon-bart nonsense".

Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, issued a tweet early Sunday that included the sort of language some people said her father should have used on Saturday. "I think the president knows what he's going to do with Steve Bannon".

"Here's the thing: Whether I was the White House communications director or not, I don't think you're gonna change the president".

During a television interview on Saturday (12 August), Scaramucci criticised his former boss for not openly denouncing the far-right violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, over the weekend.

He said the "toleration of [white supremacy] by Steve Bannon is inexcusable". "He called for national unity and bringing all Americans together".

Scaramucci's short tenure was accompanied by a series of scandals in the media, with the then-communications director scolding previous and acting White House staff members.

Scaramucci acknowledged that he did not specifically ask for the conversation to be off the record.

A young woman died and 19 people were injured in the city of Charlottesville when a auto plowed into a crowd of people after a rally by Ku Klux Klan members and other white nationalists turned violent.

"We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides", Trump said in a press conference at his New Jersey golf course.
