DMX May Face Prison Time Over Recent St. Louis Trip

Rapper DMX left leaves federal court in New York with his attorney Murray Richman after pleading not guilty to tax evasion. DMX was ordered confined to his suburban New York City home Friday Aug. 11 by a judge

The rapper is out on bail in his tax evasion case, and one of the conditions was that he must give the judge a heads-up if he blows out of town. According to TMZ, the "X Gon' Give It To Ya" rapper reportedly showed up 30 minutes late to his bail bond hearing, and failed four drug tests, but the judge chose to show some mercy.

E! News reports that DMX (real name Earl Simmons) is now under house arrest.

DMX could be headed back to jail soon, but whatever time he faces would pale in comparison to the 44-year stint he'd deal with if convicted on all 14 counts of tax evasion.

"I'm going to not detain him in jail, although a very strong argument could be made for detaining him in jail", Rakoff said, adding that he believes too many people are locked up before trial.
