The bot which had been playing with several players in the world both amateurs and professionals, today faced the Dendi (one of the leaders in Dota 2) at the main stage of The International (annual Dota 2 tournament).

In the live Shadow Fiend mirror match against Dendi, the bot executed an impossibly flawless creep block, perfectly balanced creep aggro, and even recognized and cancelled Dendi's healing items.

Success in Dota requires players to develop intuitions about their opponents and plan accordingly.

Musk hailed the achievement on Twitter, saying that it was a significant advance over what AI had accomplished in more traditional games. And rather than attempt a third round, Dendi surrendered. The bot quickly bested Dendi in two matches, leading Dendi to say it's "too strong!" OpenAI stated that its AI had been performing at the championship and it has already defeated the Pakistan-based gamer Sumail (the world's best 1v1 player), and Arteezy (the world's overall top player).

As they plan to explore the 5v5 Dota in the future, Elon Musk thanked Microsoft for use of their Azure cloud computing platform as it required massive processing power.
