A Springfield woman was arrested Wednesday evening and charged with two counts of reckless endangerment after multiple drivers reported a auto towing two young children in a small, plastic red wagon going around a busy roundabout multiple times during rush hour.

Lt. Scott McKee said that the 27-year-old claimed that she "didn't understand what the problem was because she was only driving five miles per hour and she just wanted to show the kids a good time".

Witnesses say they saw Donahue driving her auto with the wagon attached to it by a strap or rope through traffic, police say.

The witness told police that Donahue took her toddler from the wagon to the vehicle, and then continued driving with the 4-year-old and 8-year-old still in the wagon.

However, when police arrived, Donahue reportedly did not see what the problem was.

The Oregonian reports that Alana Nicole Donahue, 27, is accused of putting her two children, ages three and five, and her 8-year-old nephew in a tiny, red plastic wagon, and attaching it with a rope to the back of her white Ford Taurus.

According to the logs, several drivers stopped their cars and confronted the mother, who then tried to drive away.

"That's when the littlest one started to cry", Scott McKee, an officer with the Springfield Police Department, told KVAL. He said she was not intoxicated.

Donahue attempted to walk away from her vehicle with her children when police arrived and eventually arrested her.
