French President Emmanuel Macron, high officials, artists, survivors and families of victims attended Friday's commemoration in honor of the victims of last year's deadly Nice attack.

Past year 86 people died and more than 460 were wounded when a Tunisian man drove a truck at a crowd on a busy waterfront Promenade.

The ceremony started with the interpretation by a choir of children of Nissa la Bella, the hymn of the city, before a minute of silence.

'More than 30 thousand people were on the streets and in just an instance, barely an instant, 86 were dead and more than 460 people wounded.

Macron has vowed to end the state of emergency by November 1 this year.

News of the latest publication led to anger from victims' groups, who accused the magazine of trying to "offend the dignity of the victims and their relatives".

On Thursday morning, the prosecutor asked the court to "order the (magazine's) withdrawal from sale" as well as a "ban on publication in all formats, particularly online". He said they images are taken from afar, without identifying anyone and without "attacking their dignity".

But the magazine's editor Olivier Royant justified the publication in a statement.

Images and footage of the attack and its aftermath were a controversial subject immediately after the murders.

The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, also criticised Paris Match for publishing the images on the eve of the first anniversary of the attack.

Now, Bastille Day - a national holiday in France - has become a sombre event in the Riviera city as its residents remember the victims of the attack.

Other pictures in the magazine's latest edition show the bloodied body of the 31-year-old Tunisian attacker in the cab of his hired truck, a selfie the Islamic State loyalist took on the afternoon of the attack at the spot it was to happen, and other taken at the same site some months earlier.
