The National Commission for Women had sent a notice to Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan for mentioning the name of the actress who is a sexual assault victim, in his press meet. Therefore, NCW has asked for an apology from Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan, as he openly took a stand for her with her name in a Press Conference.

Kamal Hassan on late Friday night took to Twitter to clear his stand on the row on Tamil version of Bigg Boss, which is under fire of a Hindu outfit for diminishing Tamil culture. When a reporter asked the actor-director about the safety of women in the film industry after the sexual assault case of a Malayalam actor, he had replied "Why is it the safety of women in the film industry alone?"

Haasan was addressing the media regarding a complaint raised by a fringe Hindu Group over the ongoing Tamil reality TV show, 'Bigg Boss, ' which he hosts. "It's not about actresses, we are not supporting [used actress' name] because she is an actress [sic]".

"For me, not just the safety of actress but every single person is important". Name her after my mother or my daughter. When pointed out that the name of the victim shouldn't be named he had argued that there is nothing wrong in that.
