All of this points to the true genius of this movie - in getting acclaimed eighties director Steven Spielberg on board, Ready Player One will (all things going well) be a flawless reflection of the nostalgia that are littered throughout Ernest Cline's novel. It's a good start.

In the year 2044, reality is an ugly place. Wade's in that latter camp but he clings to the hope that discovery of the treasure to end all treasure will end his life of poverty. With the novel filled with so many Easter eggs, they might include a reference to that in the film.

After all, we've seen plenty of directors (such as the Duffer Brothers of Stranger Things) pay homage to Spielberg's work, but it'll be a unique experience to see the legendary director delve into his own bag of tricks to make a movie that, in many ways, sums up his career. So to have him directing, it's too flawless to even be possible. Some of those references are captured in the following image which suggests that the movie itself is going to have some incredible rewatch potential. In the film, Wade is a part of a group of gamers called "gunters", people who try to solve an elaborate, nearly-impossible puzzle that would grant the victor ownership of OASIS.

This raises questions about the formation of large structures and the nature of the universe, astronomers say. There are thin "filaments" that connect galaxies, forming a cosmic web, and there are large voids in between.

Wade is an '80s aficionado who uses the online alias of Parzival as he enters the world of OASIS using his a virtual reality visor and haptic gloves which he keeps in an abandoned van at a junkyard, referring to his hideout as "My refuge".

The photo features Wade Watts, played by Tye Sheridan, a misfit orphan who lives in a trailer community known as "The Stacks". EW also sorted through it to highlight the Easter eggs hidden in plain sight.
