Experience worth more than money, says US Open runner-up Choi

Sung Hyun Park poses with the trophy after the final round of the US Women's Open

The South Korean didn't make the same mistake this year.

The South Korean juggernaut continued as long-hitting Park Sung-hyun broke a three-way tie with two late birdies to win the U.S. Women's Open by two strokes at Trump National on Sunday for her first major championship. Feng, who began the day with a two-stroke edge, stretched her two-day par streak to 23 holes in a row before her heroics at 18, relentless and consistent hole after hole. "It's nearly like I'm floating on a cloud in the sky", Park said through an interpreter after signing for 11-under 277.

"I still can not believe that it is actually happening".

"To be honest with you, I still can not believe that it is actually happening", Park said through a translator after accepting the trophy.

The USGA was criticized for not moving the event from Trump National after comments made by the president about women came to light during the election campaign.

As the poker-faced Park made her way from the 18th green to the scoring tent, she paused to wave and bow towards U.S. President Donald Trump, who looked down from his bullet-proof, glass-enclosed private box. They appeared for five minutes and departed before Trump arrived. Park, who finished tied for third at last year's U.S. Women's Open, took home $900,000 of a $5 million purse.

Choi, the reigning Australian Amateur champion, was also the low amateur at the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open in Adelaide in February.

Two more Koreans, Mi Jung Hur (68) and world No 1 So Yeon Ryu (70), shared third place on seven under. Marina Alex of nearby Wayne, N.J., was the best of the American at 4 under after a 70.

Australia's Minjee Lee had a late charge and tied for 11th at the US Women's Open

PGA: Bryson DeChambeau overcame a four-stroke deficit to win the John Deere Classic by a stroke for his first tour title and a spot in this week's British Open.

DeChambeau, 23, birdied four of the final six holes for a 6-under 65 and an 18-under 266 total.

Choi and Yang each shot 70.

Choi showed her mettle by making birdie at the par-five 15th after a brilliant pitch from deep rough short of the green set up an eight-foot putt. It's a greater honor for me.

Wesley Bryan (64) and Rick Lamb (66) tied for third at 16 under, and past tournament champions Steve Stricker (64) and Zach Johnson (67) topped the group at 15 under. Park played the weekend in 67-67 after an opening-round 73. She has followed with six more US LPGA titles, most recently winning in May at Ann Arbor, Michigan. After taking the one-shot penalty, he missed a 4-footer and had to settle for a double bogey.

DeChambeau made a 14-foot birdie putt on No. 18 to pull even with Rodgers. Golfers battled through a two-hour rain delay Thursday that forced 39 of them to finish their rounds early Friday morning.

"At the time I felt that all this work, hard work I put together was going to disappear so I was bit disappointed but I had to refocus", said Choi. Rodgers then bogeyed No. 17. "That was the killer".

Choi, the 17-year-old who is the world's No.2 ranked amateur, might have been the most consistent player after bogeying her first hole. Both were on 13 under par overall.

Concerns Remain Over Track Layout At 2017 Honda Indy Toronto
Castroneves is coming off his best drive of the season, and counting out Simon Pagenaud on a street course is just plain foolish. He won the Grand Prix of Long Beach in April and was third in the first of two races at the Detroit Grand Prix in June.
