AAP announces support for Oppn candidate Meira Kumar in presidential battle

The joint candidate of non-BJP opposition parties for Presidential elections, Meira Kumar, on Friday said that it was "highly unfortunate" that she and NDA candidate Ram Nath Kovind, were identified by their caste. "During its first tenure Mr Kejriwal formed the Government in coalition with the Congress party and now it has chose to support Meira Kumar who is Congress nominee for the post of President election", Mr Sirsa said in a statement.

Singh said the AAP was backing Meira Kumar as the opposition has a significant role to play in India's present circumstances.

The sources said the BJP is now expected to hold a meeting of its Parliamentary Board in a day or two before they announce their candidate.
