John Bernecker, a stuntman on The Walking Dead set who was rushed to an Atlanta hospital after a stunt on the set went horribly wrong, has died.

Bernekcer died on Wednesday, after falling 20 feet onto a concrete floor while filming a scene involving Dwight actor Austin Amelio at the Sanctuary.

In a statement, the USA cable network behind The Walking Dead, AMC, said: "John Bernecker's family has decided that he will be removed from life support, following organ donation".

The showrunner for "The Walking Dead" is speaking out after a stuntman's tragic death on set.

After the tragic incident, representatives from the network and hit show extended their condolences to the bereaved family of the stuntman.

"The production team of "#The Walking Dead" said they are "deeply saddened" by the loss of a family member, while AMC extended their thoughts and prayers to Bernecker's love ones in this hard time.

Bernecker's work can be seen in films such as The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Logan, and the forthcoming Black Panther.

SAG-AFTRA represents stunt professionals, and they're investigating the accident.

"John Bernecker's family has decided that he will be removed from life support following organ donation". It will also feature the TV series' 100 episode that will be helmed by executive producer Greg Nicotero who consistently directed all the season premiere since season 4. "He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital and we have temporarily shut down production".

AMC is expected to release the trailer and announce the premiere date of "The Walking Dead" season 8 at the show's press panel at the San Diego Comic-Con 2017 on Friday, July 21.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of John Bernecker. Please send prayers to his family and friends".
