A memo reportedly written by former FBI Director Comey details President Trump asking him to cease the federal investigation into Flynn.

President Trump on Monday welcomed Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the White House, working to solidify strong alliances in Middle East ahead of a visit to the region later this week.

Flynn was sacked after misleading top White House officials about his contacts with Russian Federation.

"I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go", Trump reportedly said to Mr. Comey in the memo.

H.R. McMaster told reporters in a brief statement that The Washington Post report published Monday "is false" and "at no time" were intelligence sources or methods discussed during Trump's meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

"While the President has repeatedly expressed his view that General Flynn is a decent man who served and protected our country, the President has never asked Mr. Comey or anyone else to end any investigation, including any investigation involving General Flynn", the White House said in a statement.
