The CW Moves Riverdale, Jane the Virgin, Arrow

The CW released their fall schedule on Wednesday.

The network aims to appeal "to both women and men, across a wide range of demographics", CW president Mark Pedowitz said ahead of the network's upfront presentation to advertisers in New York Thursday. The CW is the last of the five broadcast networks to announce its fall schedule. "In the fall, we have the action-packed new military drama Valor, and a new version of the iconic soap Dynasty, giving us two new female-focused series that add more balance to our primetime lineup".

Supergirl stays as the lead on Monday, followed by Valor, the military drama about Army helicopter pilots starring Matt Barr.

The CW will be moving its superhero drama Arrow to Thursday nights at 9 p.m. when the series returns for Season 6 this fall. "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" and "Jane the Virgin" pair on Fridays. However, this move pits Arrow up against NBC's hit show This Is Us-definitely cause for concern. Christina Ochoa and Matt Barr star as two U.S. Army helicopter pilots who must return overseas to help rescue their comrade (W. Tre Davis) from terrorists, all while being torn between their duty and desire for each other, of course.

One potential challenge with "Dynasty" is marketing the nighttime soap to a new generation of viewers.

Esther and John Shapiro, creators of the original series, are also involved as executive producers. Pedowitz said he is "completely open" to inviting cast members from the original, such as Joan Collins, to appear on the new show. For midseason, we have the heartwarming comedy LIFE SENTENCE, starring Lucy Hale, a terrific actress; and we have the exciting new series BLACK LIGHTNING, based on the DC character.
