Starbucks Is Testing Coffee Ice Cubes for Its Cold Drinks

Starbucks tests coffee ice as a new way to add a jolt to your latte

Nothing kills a buzz faster than watered-down iced coffee on a hot summer day.

Coffee ice cubes are just what they sound like - ice cubes made out of coffee instead of just water - and they're an ingenious hack we've been supporting for years, since they don't water down your iced coffee as they melt.

Starbucks isn't the only coffee maker to sell special ice cubes.

ABC News reports that 100 Starbucks locations in St. Louis and Baltimore began testing coffee ice cubes earlier this week. The coffee ice cubes are also now only available at 100 Starbucks Corporation stores in St. Louis and Baltimore.

Will you add coffee ice the next time you head to Starbucks?

"It's one of several tests going on", the rep said, adding that the chain would collect feedback from both customers and baristas when considering expansion of the ice cubes. For those individuals, coffee ice will be the gift that keeps on giving.

Bring on iced coffee season, people. We don't yet know if the menu item will make its way all Starbucks locations, or even stick around at all - after all, it's only being tested now.
