Craig Anderson has given up 35 goals on 453 shots faced and Mike Condon has allowed one goal on 10 shots. Ottawa's got Erik Karlsson on its side, but who in their right minds could have guessed that the Senators, through three games, would have seven goals to Pittsburgh's three?

"The first question I always ask our coaching staff when we start to have these discussions on lineup decisions, regardless of the position, which guys do we think on this particular game are going to give us the best chance to win?" "But it doesn't just stop with Sid, it goes down the bench". There is no mercy in the playoffs, and Fleury probably knows that better than most.

"But they're competitors. I understand". The argument then was that Fleury was the superior regular season goaltender in 2015-16 and played well in relief in Game 4. "When you're flatfooted and down by a few in the first couple minutes it's not a good feeling and I don't think we're going to let that happen again". The Senators really didn't have their best chances until the end of the game, but Fleury was up to the task in the win.

The Senators chased Penguins starting goalie Marc-Andre Fleury with four goals on nine shots in the first 12:52. We made it for Game 4. He has a calm demeanor about him.

But the Senators took it to the Pens from puck drop and blitzed their way to a 4-0 first-period lead and ultimately a 5-1 victory, and 2-1 series edge.

"That's a decision we made", Sullivan said Friday afternoon at the team's downtown hotel.

Game 5 is Sunday in Pittsburgh. Murray stopped an impressive 19 of 20 in his 2017 Stanley Cup Playoff debut.

"There's so many good players nowadays that can score very easily or make plays with not much time and space - that's really what we try and focus on in here is to key in on their good guys and not give them odd-man rushes", Hoffman said. "I think we have loyalty to our whole team". Pittsburgh relied heavily upon Murray during the regular season, and he was expected to start in the playoffs, but a lower-body injury he suffered in warm ups before Game 1 in the first round opened the door for Fleury. That's what makes them as good as they are.

Daley: "We need a win tonight".

Pittsburgh's already battered defence took another blow late in the first when Bobby Ryan delivered a nasty hit to Chad Ruhwedel. Ruhwedel remained down on the ice in pain while a scrum ensued along the boards. Ryan somehow escaped a charging penalty on the play, and Cole drew the only call for roughing.

Penguins defenseman Justin Schultz and forwards Bryan Rust, Patric Hornqvist and Tom Kuhnhackl seem to be doubtful to play in Game 4 and have been given the day to day status. The Senators are averaging 2.5 goals per game and are scoring on 17 percent of their power play opportunities. Guentzel had two assists.

Dumoulin added the third Penguins goal less than four minutes later with his shot from the left point caroming off the skate of Dion Phaneuf and into the net.

That doesn't mean Burrows has been completely ruled out for Game 4, set for Friday at the Canadian Tire Centre, but coach Guy Boucher offered what sounded some optimistic about Burrows suiting up. Game 2: One goal.

"There's just no bad skaters really anymore", he said.
