Trump Can Declassify Intelligence As President But Giving It To The Russians Is A First Guest Post

He said on MSNBC, that Mr Trump's leak of information to Russian Federation in the middle of the FBI, Senate, and House investigations into the country's role in tampering with the USA election was a "dereliction of duty" and "shocking".

Yesterday (May 15), it was reported that Donald Trump leaked classified intelligence about an ISIS plot involving laptops on airplanes during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ambassador Sergei Kislyak at the White House.

In a pair of tweets Tuesday morning, Trump insisted he had the right to share information with Russian Federation related to terrorism and other issues.

Trump has previously spoken out about the sharing of classified information and even lashed out at his rival Hillary Clinton during the race for the White House.

As commander in chief, Trump gets the final say on how sensitive information gets disseminated, no matter how classified.

"Crooked Hillary Clinton and her team 'were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information, ' Trump tweeted in July". No proof ever emerged of a successful hostile foreign breach of her account, then-FBI Director James Comey said at the time. "Humanitarian reasons, plus I want Russian Federation to greatly step up their fight against ISIS & terrorism".

In her request, she wrote "I am afraid to be alone with him". "I am not trying to validate why he acted the way he did". Hartless was freed in April after his latest domestic violence case.

The President has broad powers to declassify information, so it is unlikely Trump broke the law, according to the Post, but he seems to have contradicted himself.

Trump's meeting with the Russians came just one day after he fired Comey as Federal Bureau of Investigation director.

Trump has also attacked leakers of classified information in the past.

"Snowden has given serious information to China and Russia-anyone who thinks otherwise is a dope!"

Trump's tweets Tuesday lack any mention of whether the information he shared was classified. Tillerson, who was at the meeting, revealed that a "broad range of subjects" were brought up and "the nature of specific threats were discussed, but they did not discuss sources, methods or military operations".
