Taiwanese smartphone giant HTC on Tuesday launched its flagship smartphone HTC U11 at a global launch event in Taipei.

The HTC U 11 comes with a 5.5 inch Super LCD display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, the handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.

Like the front panel, the back is also covered with the Gorilla Glass 5.

HTC's President of Smartphones and Connected Devices Chialin Chang took to the stage to announce the new phone, and said that the new product is one of the most innovative product from HTC and that it is the next generation device that delivers the ultimate user experience. The device reportedly can be fully charged in less than 30 minutes. The model that will be launched in India will have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be further expandable up to 2TB via microSD card. Power comes courtesy a 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.

The UltraPixel 3 camera in HTC U11 has five-axis image stabilization and dual pixel auto focus. Camera features include Face Detection, Pro mode with manual control, 32-second long exposure, and RAW format support, HDR Boost, Panorama, and Hyperlapse. This so-called "Edge Sense" technology is without a doubt a standout feature. The camera can capture slow motion video in 1080p at 120fps.

Coming to the camera department, the HTC U11 features a 12 MP UltraPixel 3-branded unit on the rear, while the selfie snapper is coming at 16 MP. It runs on Android 7.1 Nougat OS with HTC Sense on top of it.

Alexa will be one of three AI brains included in the device alongside HTC's own Sense Companion and Google Assistant.

We expect the HTC U11 to be priced nothing below $650 Dollars.

One of the interesting new inclusions from the company in the HTC U11 is the pressure-sensitive or squeezable frame of the device that is meant to perform certain actions upon putting some pressure. The deleted video showed the feature in action, with the person handling the phone managing to take a photo and launch Google Assistant simply by squeezing the sides of the phone. Users can customize the squeeze gesture to wake up Assistant/Alexa, or even bring up the microphone to dictate text messages, according to Forbes.

The HTC U11, priced at $649, is the company's actual flagship phone. The rest of the specifications are pretty much standard as you get all the usual connectivity options, including USB Type-C port, 802.11ac dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, GPS and GLONASS.
