Senators rally past Bruins to win in OT

21 April 2017, 04:40 | Joan Schultz

The Ottawa Senators were all smiles Sunday.

Exahust (ion) problems: Already missing three starting defensemen, the Bruins saw Adam McQuaid exit in the first period after just 2 minutes and 47 seconds of ice time after the burly blue liner suffered an upper body injury.

It was the Senators' turn to play fast and loose with the lead after taking the Bruins to school and leading by three goals before four minutes had elapsed in the second period.

Though the Senators pushed the pace and dominated a lot of play, goaltender Craig Anderson struggled as David Pastrnak, David Backes and Noel Acciari tied it up in the second period.

Not unraveling in a tough atmosphere, the young Maple Leafs showed they belonged on the same ice with the Capitals after losing Game 1 in OT.

"The next game is going to be even harder so we're going to have to take the next two days to rest up and be ready for the hardest game yet", Allen said.

The Bruins left the ice Monday feeling they were the victims of a bad call that led to Ottawa's winning goal.

Broken Spoon: Oft-frustrating Ryan Spooner is the only Boston forward without a shot on goal in either of the first two games. "I guess we tried to play too defensive and they made us pay".

"It's a huge goal for us from Bobby". But at the same time I think we can do a much better job making sure that he doesn't get to play his game as much as he wants to.

Toronto trailed 2-0 in the first period, and then 3-1 early in the second before Kadri and Nylander scored 4:07 apart late to tie the score in the final minute of the period.

Tianjin remains hopeful of landing Costa
Tianjin Quanjian have revealed that they're still working on their sensational £620,000-a-week offer for Chelsea striker Diego Costa this summer.

But the spandex set eventually disappeared, to be replaced that night by the city's hard-core hockey fans, who haven't had an NHL playoff game at which to vent their excitement since 2014, the last time the Bruins played a home playoff date.

"I feel much better", Krejci said after the morning skate.

The third period was a rollicking affair with great scoring chances at both ends, but the score remained deadlocked.

"Brad's a guy that his second, third, and fourth effort on the puck is well-known".

Hoffman's power-play snipe 3:42 into the second put the Sens ahead 3-0.

Ottawa Senators defenceman Dion Phaneuf (2) is congratulated by teammate Ottawa Senators right wing Mark Stone (61) on his goal during overtime of game two NHL Stanley Cup hockey playoff action against the Boston Bruins, in Ottawa, Saturday, April 15, 2017. He was able to tip a shot by John-Michael Liles by Anderson to at least get the crowd back into the game.

"Obviously he's their best player and the No. 1 playmaker on that team", said Zdeno Chara.

"It seems like right now we're playing a little bit tight", forward Marian Hossa said.

"I don't know if you can neutralize that first [saucer pass in Game 3]". Though the Bruins are returning home with one win - the goal for any road team heading into the postseason, the momentum is definitely in the Senators favor.
