Prince William and Lady Gaga Talk Mental Health Over FaceTime

20 April 2017, 11:17 | Winston Chapman

Williams invited Gaga to participate after he read an open letter she issued through her Born This Way Foundation in which she revealed a sexual assault at 19 that left her with PTSD. "You feel like something it's wrong with you", Lady Gaga said from her kitchen in Los Angeles. "In my life, I go, 'Oh, my goodness, look at all of these handsome, wonderful things that I have".

The video comes less than two days after Prince Harry spoke out about the pain of losing his mother, Princess Diana, in a vehicle accident 20 years ago.

Both Lady Gaga and Prince William have stepped up their game when it comes to bringing awareness to issues of mental health, not to mention Prince Harry's heartbreaking admission about his own state for two decades after his mother's passing. Heads Together most recently launched a series of films centered around the importance of speaking up about mental health.

"It's okay to have this conversation. It's really important to have this conversation", said Prince William.

"It's OK to have this conversation, it's really important to have this conversation and you won't be judged".

The two ended the call by making plans to meet when Gaga visits the United Kingdom in October.

He said he eventually sought help from mental health professionals at the age of 28, after encouragement from others, including "huge support" from his older brother.

Prince William is practicing what he preaches!

Lady Gaga has also gotten involved in the cause.

In fact, donning a floral blouse and showing off freshly straightened brunette tresses, Gaga looked positively demure - you might even say she seemed to be channelling the chic style of the Duke of Cambridge's wife Kate.

She believes addressing her internal fight helped her overcome her battles, and she has encouraged other people facing the same problem she did to speak about it.

The fact so many public figures, from the Royal family to rappers like Stormzy, are opening up about mental health is slowly changing society's stigma.

Lady Gaga said the diagnosis had had "life-changing" effects on her life.
