Facebook live murder suspect Steve Stephens kills himself after pursuit

Pennsylvania State Police say the manhunt for the alleged "Facebook Killer" Steve Stephens is over. As the vehicle was spinning from the impact, Stephens pulled out a pistol and shot himself in the head.

Beech Brook, a behavioral health facility in a Cleveland suburb where Stephens had worked since 2008, said in a statement on Tuesday that Stephens had cleared an extensive background check.

"(Our parents) didn't talk it, they lived it. People would do things to us and we would say "Dad are you really going to forgive them, really?' and he would say 'Yes, we have to", Godwin-Baines said.

On Sunday, Stephens posted a video on Facebook that showed him fatally shoot 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr. According to CNN, the video remained on his page for two hours before being taken down by the social-media site's administrators.

"I'm not happy he's dead at all, not at all".

Police soon arrived, and after a short vehicle chase, the so-called Facebook Killer ended his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot.

"When I picked up the phone she was screaming", the daughter said.

The employee took Stephens' money and waited for him to drive up to the next window before calling the police, DuCharme said.

Acting on a tip, Pennsylvania State Police spotted Stephens, 37, in Erie County, in the state's northwest corner, and went after him.

Facebook said it removed the video of the shooting 23 minutes after learning of it.

Cleveland police are saying the video never should have been shared.

The mother, who expressed her condolences to the Godwin family, said Wednesday she believes Stephens' breakup with Joy Lane triggered the killing.

The company has since announced it is launching a review for reporting harmful content. Godwin did not seem to recognize the name.

In several posts, he claimed to have killed as many as a dozen people, but police have not found evidence to support that claim. "We were just trying to make sure she could get in contact with state police", restaurant owner Tom Ducharme said.
