McDonald's Szechuan Sauce sells for $14,700

"Rick and Morty" fans want McDonald's to bring back its long-discontinued Szechuan sauce - and a packet of the almost 20-year-old McNuggets dip sold for $14,000 on eBay after the Adult Swim show featured it.

If you're a fan of off-the-wall cartoon Rick and Morty you have. Ever since being featured prominently in the surprise season three premiere, nostalgia for the limited edition condiment has reached a fever pitch, with people trying to figure out how to make their own at home and McDonald's even considering giving into fan pressure and bringing it back. And now you have the answer: US$14,000 (NZ$20,940).

The infamous dipping sauce worth - apparently - $20,940.

In Adult Swim's popular cartoon series Rick and Morty, irreverent mad scientist Rick Sanchez embarked on an interdimensional adventure with the sole objective of getting a packet of McDonald's Szechuan sauce. The good news for fans wanting to taste Szechuan Sauce is that fans have been working on recreating the recipe. "The only place we can try it is in my memory".

Venezuelans gear up for major march against Maduro
Opposition leaders also accuse the government of infiltrating marches with violent protesters as a way of discrediting them. The 44-year-old governor, who has run for president twice, said the government was again acting like a dictatorship.

The seller, who is from Ipswich, explained that the sauce packet was found in a recently purchased "really old car". After watching the recent episode of Rick and Morty I went online to see if it was worth anything. Turns out it was. Also this comes with a packet of wasabi as well.

Several more auctions have popped up since, and there are also several petitions circulating online to bring back the sauce; at least one has garnered nearly 40,000 signatures. I would prefer not to sell it to a collector.

McDonald's has made no official announcement regarding the craze over the McNugget companion, instead only jokingly paraphrasing a "Rick and Morty" catchphrase on Twitter by tweeting, "McNugga Lubba Dub Dub".
