Eagles schedule 2017: Philadelphia's midseason stretch key to unseating Cowboys

Dallas' holes on defense make this a hard schedule

The full National Football League schedule won't be released until 8 p.m. ET Thursday - details here on how to watch or stream the announcement - but some leaks have started to trickle out.

Interesting note about the Giants schedule in 2017. They are going to be good this season, but the Giants escape in a tight one.

The Cowboys will open the 2017 regular season in primetime against a familiar foe: the New York Giants.

The Giants play in prime time four times, although three are on the road (shocker), including a Thanksgiving night contest at Washington.

Now an annual tradition: The Giants will open at Dallas for a third straight season and for the fourth time in the past five years.

The Cowboys have one advantage over the Giants

A Sunday night game in Denver.

Rookie Denver coach Vance Joseph then will coach Denver in its first meeting with the Giants since Eli and Peyton Manning squared off as starting quarterbacks for the final time, a 41-23 Broncos win at MetLife Stadium on September 15, 2013.

Elliott and the Cowboys have the Giants again to start their season.

Their bye week is in Week 8, right smack in the middle of the season. The schedule eases up (vs. Rams and at 49ers) to start the second half of the season. The only team that had an easier schedule and lower opponents' winning percentage than the Giants was the Green Bay Packers (117-139, .457). The NFC East and AFC West are expected to be two of the toughest divisions, and 10 of the Giants' 16 games come against those opponents. Their secondary will need to play well early in the season facing Dak Prescott, Matthew Stafford, Carson Wentz, Jameis Winston, Philip Rivers and Russell Wilson in six of their first seven games. In my mind, the Giants would be in pretty good shape if they can somehow be 4-2 after six weeks. The Giants will finish the season with four NFC games, including three (all at home) inside the NFC East. That means lot of trips out West and more than a few hard games. Their farthest trip last season (outside of London) was to Dallas. And one of the three road games is in San Francisco.

Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 10, at Dallas, 8:30 p.m.
