Comedian Charlie Murphy Dead At 57 #RIP

Murphy's death rocked the entertainment world and led to an outpour of condolences from numerous comedian's friends and admirers.

Murphy also co-wrote two of Eddie Murphy's films, 1995's Vampire in Brooklyn and 2007's Norbit.

The former Chappelle's Show star reportedly died in a NY hospital at the age of 57 due to the cancer, which was confirmed by his publicist and manager this morning.

Sources claim the comedian's family would call him often to see how he was doing, nearly to the point where Charlie would joke that his family was being a bit needy. Along with Donnell Rawlings, he hosted the "Lost Episodes" of Chappelle's Show, made up of sketches from the show's aborted third season.

Murphy was recently on tour with Cedric the Entertainer, Eddie Griffin, George Lopez and D.L. Hughley for "The Comedy Get Down".

Taking to the social media platform the actor had written to his 240,000 followers: "Rise & Grind: Wake up with the rising sun and seize the day!" "He was my first impression", Eddie added. Murphy, whose wife Tisha Taylor Murphy passed away from cervical cancer in 2009, is survived by his three children. They had 2 children, and he had another from a previous relationship. He died with gigs on the books.

Charlie Murphy arrived in Hollywood after working as a bodyguard for Eddie at the beginning of his career, the EFE news agency reported.
