Bill O'Reilly Out at Fox, Lineup Shaken Up

21 April 2017, 02:19 | Winston Chapman

The report of the latest claim prompted a statement from Marc E. Kasowitz, an attorney for O'Reilly, who said his client is being targeted by liberal groups who are out to "destroy" him. The agreements totaled about $13 million.

As the accusations piled up, more than 50 major advertisers pulled out of his show even though viewership soared.

An afternoon recap of the day's most important business news, delivered weekdays.

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch and his son Lachlan are co-executive chairmen of the company and son James is chief executive officer.

Gretchen Carlson filed suit against Roger Ailes last summer-and started an avalanche.

"Full Frontal" host Samantha Bee gave Bill O'Reilly the red pen treatment Wednesday on Twitter, vigorously carving up the statement he released following his ouster from Fox News over a scandal involving multiple allegations of sexual harassment.

Again, O'Reilly denies the claims against him. In January, the lineup lost another star, Megyn Kelly.

O'Reilly will be succeeded in the 8 p.m.

"The Five" will be replaced at 3 p.m. MDT by a one-hour program hosted by Eric Bolling, to debut May 1.

The women who received settlements either worked for O'Reilly or appeared as guests on his show, The New York Times reported.

He added: 'I will always look back on my time at Fox with great pride in the unprecedented success we achieved and with my deepest gratitude to all my dedicated viewers.

"You need to write and call Fox News Channel today and tell them, you can lose your advertisers or you can lose your viewers", Beck said on his radio show.

It is not known exactly how Fox News will handle O'Reilly's exit or whether he would be allowed to say goodbye to viewers on the air, according to the NY magazine report. Concern over whether Fox broke the law by failing to disclose its settlements to investors is more likely to impact approval than whether the company is mired in sexual misconduct allegations, said Claire Enders of Enders Analysis, who has studied the Murdoch empire for years.

"We want to underscore our consistent commitment to fostering a work environment built on the values of trust and respect", the Murdochs said in a memo to Fox News staff members.

Dr Walsh said she "turned left to the bar", while O'Reilly turned "towards the bedroom".

Following The New York Times report that exposed these incidents, O'Reilly pleaded innocent via a statement on his website, while ignoring the topic on air. Then, she said, "we had quite a good relationship". He is one of the country's most popular nonfiction authors with his "Killing Lincoln", "Killing Kennedy" and "Killing Jesus" books, several of which have been made into TV movies on the National Geographic Channel (also owned by Fox).

O'Reilly's show, "The O'Reilly Factor", is the top-rated show on Fox News. Before the segment, the two discussed a bet they had made for dinner. At the end of the show, she paid him a warm tribute. "I can't believe this is still going on". "If they find the right talent, I think the Fox audience will quickly roll out the welcome wagon".
