Uber President Jeff Jones quits after mere 6 months

Jones was a marketing expert, who was hired just seven months ago to help soften the company's often abrasive image, said an Uber spokesperson, reported Gadgets360.

But the statement by Jones comes on the heels of multiple allegations of sexism and sexual harassment at Uber and the departures of two key executives tied to allegedly improper behavior.

Jeff Jones, the president of Uber has quit the car-hailing company after less than a year. In addition to a new COO, Kalanick now has to find a president who's willing to handle the garbage fire that the company's inner workings have become. The report surfaced Sunday following which Uber released a statement confirming the news.

Jones becomes the latest Uber higher-up to leave the company.

In February, Amit Singhal was sacked from his job after shocking allegations about a sexual harassment at his former job merged. The New York Times reports that Brian McClendon, vice president of maps and business platform, is leaving on March 28 to explore a career in politics in Kansas.

"After we announced our intention to hire a COO (chief operating officer), Jeff came to the tough decision that he doesn't see his future at Uber", he wrote. Jones was lured from Target last September to serve as president of Uber's ride-sharing business. In January, a #DeleteUber campaign was started after the company was perceived to be breaking a taxi strike over President Trump's travel ban.

"It's frustrating that the sole executive charged with being driver-obsessed has left the company without making a single improvement to help drivers struggling to make a living", said Ryan Price in a statement.

Around the same time, the company was also contending with drivers angry over various workplace and compensation issues ― and received little relief following a public and disastrous Q&A that Jones led via Facebook. Earlier this month, Ed Baker, Uber's vice-president of product and growth, and Charlie Miller, Uber's famed security researcher, departed. Former employee of Uber; Susan Fowler has accused Uber for sexual harassment and negligence from the human resource department.

Jones also confirmed the departure with a blistering assessment of the company.

Privately, however, the company has been shocked by his sudden departure, with other executives left disappointed at what they saw as a lack of professional courtesy in informing them of his plans.
