Sean Spicer Reportedly Apologizes to Britain For Talking Shit

Senate Intelligence Committee: 'No indications that Trump Tower was the subject of surveillance'

Jeff Sessions said he never briefed President Trump “on campaign investigations or gave him any reason to believe Obama wiretapped him.”

Press secretary Sean Spicer, asked to respond to the accusation, read an extensive litany of news reports from the podium that showed intelligence agencies' interest in Trump's activities, but none that actually corroborated Trump's claim. Offense being the best defense, Spicer began asking questions of the press in the room: "Where was your passion, where was your concern when the committees said there was no connection to Russian Federation?"

"You watch what happens to Angela Merkel, who I always thought of as a very good leader until she did this".

Spicer engaged in a lengthy exchange with CNN's Jim Acosta over whether the President stands by his allegation that he was wiretapped specifically and not under surveillance in general. "Just found out that Obama had my "wires tapped" in Trump Tower just before the victory", and went on to claim nothing was found.

Trump also refused to apologize for the White House's repetition of an unverified claim that Obama had employed a British spy agency to monitor him during the campaign.

"The Department of Justice has complied with the request from leaders of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees and Judiciary Committees seeking information related to surveillance during the 2016 election", Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said Friday. But the White House assured the German chancellor in 2013 that Mr Obama knew nothing about it and that the monitoring had stopped. Is the story GCHQ spied on President Trump or is the story about the use of fake news as a political and geo-political tool? "He didn't use the NSA, he didn't use the Central Intelligence Agency, he didn't use the Federal Bureau of Investigation and he didn't use the Department of Justice - he used GCHQ", the former New Jersey judge had told the programme.

The top lawmakers on the House and Senate Intelligence committees last week said there was no proof thus far that Trump Tower had been wiretapped by Obama, which Trump alleged earlier this month in a series of tweets and has continued to allege. "The statement clearly says at this time they don't believe it", said Mr Spicer.

"We've made clear to the administration that these claims are ridiculous and they should be ignored and we've received assurances that these allegations will not be repeated", May's spokesman told reporters.

House Speaker Paul Ryan said the same during a press conference Thursday morning.

The House Intelligence Committee will hold a hearing on Monday on allegations of Russian meddling in the USA election. Trump, like Obama before him - who said that he was "aggravated" by "free riders" in a 2016 interview with The Atlantic - has demanded that NATO members pay their fair share. The Senate Intelligence Committee announced Friday it would hold a hearing on Russia's meddling into the United States election on March 30.
