Sean Spicer: GCHQ bugged Trump Tower for Barack Obama

Kaepernick donates $50K to Meals on Wheels after Trump swipe

During a press conference on Thursday, White House press Secretary Sean Spicer cited a Fox News story alleging that former President Obama had "used GCHQ" to spy on Trump.

A GCHQ spokesperson said that Napolitano's "allegations about GCHQ being asked to conduct "wiretapping" against the then-president-elect are nonsense".

Speaking on Friday, Theresa May's spokesman said the government had "made clear" to the USA that the "ridiculous" claims should be ignored, and had received assurances in return that they will not be repeated.

Trump accused former president Barack Obama on March 4 of a "Nixon/Watergate"-like wiretapping plot that would nearly certainly break USA law".

Donald Trump's insistence that he was wiretapped by the Obama administration, despite what the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Senate Intelligence Committee have said, is now "hurting" him, warned former Pennsylvania senator and Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum.

The accusations - flatly denied by Obama - were at first seen as frivolous, spur-of-the-moment comments by a man who for years has often sent out colorful tweets targetting everything from the sex lives of actresses to why windmills are bad.

Trump told Fox News late Wednesday that he was going to produce proof - eventually.

She said everyone wanted the burden to be shared fairly and for that to happen it was necessary to have a "modern security concept" that included a modern North Atlantic Treaty Organisation but also a European defence union and investment in the United Nations.

The Daily Telegraph, a right-leaning British newspaper, said on Friday that intelligence sources told the paper that Spicer and Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, Trump's national security adviser, have apologized for the claims. It's the initials for the British intelligence-finding agency.

British spy agency, Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), on Thursday rejected White House claims that it assisted former United States President Barack Obama in spying on Donald Trump, according to reports.

Two weeks ago, President Trump announced that Barack Obama had "tapped" his "phones", during the final month of the 2016 presidential campaign.

"We are a very powerful country".

Representative Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee holding the hearing, called Trump's claims "patently false" and said he expected Comey to say as much on Monday.

Prior to his inauguration, Mr Trump declared North Atlantic Treaty Organisation "obsolete" but has since modified his stance, telling European leaders the alliance remains of strategic importance.
