Adityanath's appointment has caused some to fear that that sectarian animosity could grow in the state, unless the new chief minister changes himself before trying to change Uttar Pradesh.

The 44-year-old saffron-robed priest turned politician, known for his anti-Muslim rhetoric, took office on Sunday, a week after the BJP won a resounding victory in the state. Hitting out at the opposition parties in his trademark style, the newly-appointed CM in his first brief interaction with the media said his government will gradually mend all the discrepancies.

"I want to assure people that the BJP, which got votes for development and security, will show positive results soon". Modi succeeded in his campaign of Hindu communalization while taking refuge behind the pretext of "development for all" agenda against the "goonda raj and bhrista char" (gangsters' rule and corruption) of the incumbents. When UP develops, India develops'.

When asked to comment on allegations of Yogi Adityanath being a polarizing figure, Ahmed said, "He is a five-time MP. He will definitely prove all wrong", the minister said.

Stating that in the previous year, over 60 people, mostly Muslims, had been killed in the communal riots in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, Amnesty notes, the Election Commission called Adityanath's speech "had the effect of provoking feelings of enmity or hatred" and "aggravating the existing differences or create mutual hatred or cause tension between different castes and communities".

It must be noted that Yogi is a sorted after leader in the state and is the second most sought after campaigner after Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
