NFL free agency rumors: Latest on Marshawn Lynch to Raiders

Marshawn Lynch Touchdown Against Philadelphia Eagles

Per Peter King of The MMQB, Lynch "really wants to play for the Raiders".

According to a Monday morning report from Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, retired running back Marshawn Lynch will only return to the field if he is wearing silver and black so it appears.

A cryptic tweet from Lynch on Sunday certainly didn't help extinguish the possibility of Lynch wanting to play for Oakland.

Although, many are wondering if Lynch showed his hand a bit with a retweet on Saturday night. At that point, Lynch's contract with the Seattle Seahawks would be put back in place. He also has a roster bonus of $3 million that would kick in if he remains with the Raiders following the 2017 NFL Playoffs. The Raiders would either have to trade for the five-time Pro Bowler or wait to see if the Seahawks choose to release him.

Tiger Woods says he's 'trying everything' to play at 2017 Masters
Woods has not featured at a competitive event since February the third as his body continues to let him down. Woods pulled out after the first round and the next three tournaments because of ongoing back problems.

Lynch gained just 417 yards, his lowest total in any season in which he played in at least 10 games. But he was loved by most of his teammates, and there's no way the club would stand in his way and risk the rancor of the locker room, seeing that Lynch has so many close friends still in there.

Lynch said in June he was "done" playing in the NFL.

No matter which way these Oakland Raiders rumors drift, the team is still working with a lot of salary cap space this offseason. He reasons Seattle would do it as a favor to Lynch, while also admitting that the Raiders would give up little of significant value to actually trade for him. That's even taking into account the signing of tight end Jared Cook, who gives Raiders quarterback Derek Carr another weapon to work with.

Of course, King on Friday invited Lynch to join the Raiders, joking (we think) that the running back would get the rookie treatment in Oakland and carry the punter's pads after practice.
