Here's how Republican health care reform would affect young people

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee D-Texas opposes the Republican health care bill during work by the House Budget Committee on Capitol Hill in Washington Thursday March 16 2017

President Donald Trump said Friday he is fully behind the Republican health care plan introduced in the House last week, calling it a "great plan" that's "going to be fantastic" for Americans.

The House Budget Committee passed the Republican replacement for the Affordable Care Act in a 19-17 vote on Thursday, despite impassioned protests from Democrats and without the support of a few fiscal conservatives. He also dispatched Vice-President Mike Pence and health secretary Tom Price to hear GOP senators' concerns.

In a press release promoting the bill, House Speaker Paul Ryan echoed this argument. "Obamacare's dead", Trump told reporters in the Oval Office after his meeting with lawmakers.

The Republican answer to Obamacare has been analysed and though it will save the government money, it will likely leave millions without health insurance, a report has found.

The big picture debate over Obamacare and the replacement is one that has been around for decades, according to Mr Strazzella: "mandating ability to purchase versus the ability to access healthcare". House conservatives vowed to block the bill as "Obamacare Lite" unless there are more restrictions, even as a Republican, Sen.

"The reductions in insurance coverage between 2018 and 2026 would stem in large part from changes in Medicaid enrolment - because some states would discontinue their expansion of eligibility, some states that would have expanded eligibility in the future would choose not to do so, and per-enrollee spending in the program would be capped", the report said.

"Actually, if you read the reports, I'm encouraged by it", the Wisconsin Republican said.

Angela Merkel, Trump to meet for the first time
The US president has previously described Merkel's open door policy on refugees as "ruining Germany" and a "catastrophic" mistake.

Those findings further energized Democrats, who already were unanimously opposing the GOP repeal effort.

"They're pretty good at dollars, not good at people", Mr Spicer said about the CBO. GOP divisions also threaten the legislation in that chamber.

Price argued that Medicaid "is having extreme difficulty providing the care that's needed for all of the individuals on it", and could be improved by giving more flexibility to the states instead of federal health officials. Those same Republican senators who are saying that the current bill can't get through their chamber because it's too harsh.

Criticism cascaded from both ends of the GOP political continuum, suggesting leaders face a festering problem.

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., said the only change leaders might be willing to make was imposing an optional work requirement on some recipients of Medicaid, which helps finance health coverage for the poor.

Citing the bill's projected increase in uninsured people, Rep. Leonard Lance, R-N.J., from another close district, said he opposed the bill. A dramatic example, as reported by Business Insider, concludes that under the new plan the 400 wealthiest households in America get a tax cut of seven million dollars per household per year. The first is to pass their legislation to repeal and partially replace the Affordable Care Act, which is what the CBO has scored Monday, through a process known as budget reconciliation.
