CBP wants the wall to be "aesthetically pleasing in color" and blend into the landscape on the USA side of the border, Wallace reported.

The announcement of the proposal came on Monday, three days after the U.S. Customs and Border Protection requested proposals for "border wall prototypes". However, it says designs over 18 feet (5.5 meters) high could be acceptable.

CBP said Friday it intends to award multiple contracts, acquire numerous wall designs and build multiple prototypes through two requests for proposals published on the FedBizOpps website. They also are looking for designs that do not allow people to climb over it or tunnel under it. The proposed wall must also be built in a such a way that it would take at least an hour to cut through it with a "sledgehammer, vehicle jack, pick axe, chisel, battery operated impact tools, battery operated cutting tools, Oxy/acetylene torch or other similar hand-held tools".

On Sunday, the White House, via one heck of a Fox News chyron, announced its requirements for President Trump's proposed border wall with Mexico.

The prototypes will be used to decide upon a design for the wall that ultimately is constructed along the border. It's the first step in a process that would fulfill a promise President Donald Trump made while he was campaigning for the presidency.

Height: The structure has to be "physically imposing", suggesting a height of 30 feet.

Meanwhile, Trump's budget calls for an outlay of $2.6 billion to begin work on the wall and another $1.5 billion for expanded detention, transportation and removal of illegal immigrants, . The committee will select up to 20 plans to move to the next phase, where contractors detail how much their plans will cost and answer other questions.
