High levels of beef thyroid hormones may cause increased thirst and urination, weight loss, increased heart rate and restlessness.

Blue Buffalo Company is voluntarily recalling another one of its products.

Blue Buffalo says it has not received any reports of dogs with these symptoms after consuming the recalled product, but the FDA says one person reported symptoms in their dog who is now fully recovered. It was sold nationally through pet stores and online retailers. These symptoms may resolve when the use of the impacted food is discontinued.

The product recalled is the Blue Wilderness Rocky Mountain Recipe Red Meat Dinner Wet Food for Adult Dogs.

As of the recall date, no dogs were showing any of these symptoms, the statement said. Because the recipe is a mixer or topper and intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only, the company says the likelihood of a dog being affected is remote. Shoppers can check the dates on the bottom of the wet food cans. Blue Buffalo immediately began an investigation, however, and after working with the FDA, Blue Buffalo decided it would be prudent to recall the one production lot in question. Customers can receive a full refund for the affected foods. When these symptoms show up, immediate attention from veterinarians should be sought.

WellPet also recalled pet food product Friday due to potentially elevated levels of the beef thyroid hormone.
