On Saturday, an unidentified person was arrested for jumping over a bike rack near the White House, according to CNN. Criminal charges are pending, it said.

President Trump wasn't home this weekend, but two people tried to get into the White House while he was away.

Chaffetz called the Secret Service's response to the episode a "complete and utter, total failure", recalling that the incident was not the first such instance of someone vaulting the White House fence. The man exited the auto and said "there's a bomb in the trunk" while "clasping something in his right hand", according to the report.

President Trump was inside the White House during the breach, but the intruder, who was identified as 26-year-old Jonathan Tran of California, was not able to enter the building.

The incident took place around 12:43 p.m. near the north entrance of the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue NW, officials said. The Secret Service said Rawlinson was "standing behind the security barrier in an unauthorized area, yelling nonsensical statements", the report said. "We've got a lot of good men and women who are working hard there", Chaffetz said.

Security at the White House was immediately upgraded.

Keoughan told the Secret Service: "There's a bomb in the trunk" while holding something in his right hand, the police report said.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz, a Republican from Utah, said it should not be possible to scale the fence.

In a more serious incident on March 10, a man made it onto the White House grounds and reportedly spent 16 minutes there before being arrested.
