Sources tell Opelika-Auburn News that Steven Leath is a finalist for the president of Auburn University in Alabama.

Leath, who is 59, was a vice president at North Carolina when he was named Iowa State's president back in 2012. Leath is former president of Iowa State University. The two-time Auburn graduate is known for engaging with students, supporting faculty and creating a strong university partnership with the local community.

"Auburn is a very special place, Leath said".

According to Auburn University's website, the board of trustees will have a meeting this morning at 10:30 to vote on the next president.

Arsenal Reportedly Made Contract Offer to Thomas Tuchel to Replace Arsene Wenger
German newspaper Bild claimed that the Dortmund boss "has received a request from Arsenal", with Wenger's future under increasing scrutiny.

In recent months, Leath faced criticism after he acknowledged he used university planes for trips that mixed personal and official business. "If he has land-grant experience, he will know who we are". He is believed to be an attractive pick for Auburn University because of his experience in agriculture and leadership at a land-grant institution. "I want to make it clear that the University is really about the people".

Gouge announced his plans to retire earlier this year, asking Aurburn's board of trustees to begin a search. "We're a unique university, and he would need to know who we are".

Leath worked as an extension plant pathologist in IL for a year before moving to North Carolina State University as a plant pathologist with the USDA Agricultural Research Service in 1998.

The university then launched a 14-member committee headed by Birmingham businessman and Auburn trustee member Raymond Harbert, Opelika-Auburn News reported.
