Pokemon GO to add Johto region Pokemon later this week

17 February 2017, 05:50 | Marlene Myers

With the Gen II update, the total number of creatures players can encounter in "Pokemon Go" tops out at 251.

It may be too early to say, but we're pretty sure that Pokemon Go will be gaining its hype once again.

That has been made a bit more manageable now that the game has a tracking system featured that will actually allow you to go out and hunt down those outlines that you see in your nearby area.

These items come as part of Pokemon Go's massive new update, which will also include over 80 new Pokemon.

However, it should be known that not all of the latest features, berries and Pokemon from the "Pokemon GO" Gen 2 game will be released together. What is interesting, however, is that only 80 or so monsters would be rolled out this week. Pokemon from Pokemon Gold and Silver of course, with starters such as Germignon, Hericendre and Kaiminus. However, they did drop strong hints about the release of new animation and items.

In addition to the Pokemon, evolutions and new ways to find them, Niantic also revealed that the player-character wardrobe options will be greatly improved, and gamers will be able to outfit their character with more clothing options.

Notably, player-versus-player battles have still not been confirmed to be coming to the game with the upcoming update and might be eventually added later by the company. There's a lot going on and it's all arriving "later this week" so let's work through what's coming.

New shiny Pokemon support added, as well as added encounter animation variety. That's a far cry from the 802 available to players since the release of "Pokemon Sun" and "Moon" last fall.

If the update arrives in the morning, USA time then that means late afternoon/early evening for everyone in the United Kingdom and in the middle of the night for Asia. More movements for Hovering and Flying creatures are also expected. The word out is that the change to "Pokemon Go" will happen on the February 18 so AR gamers are advised to be on their heels.
