New Australian $10 note adds tactile features and splashes of yellow

The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) announced the currency note on Friday, which will retain its blue coloring but will feature all-new images of native Australian flora and fauna. Similar to the new $5 note unveiled a year ago, innovative new security features, such as the top-to-bottom clear window, have been incorporated into the new note in a bid to prevent counterfeiting.

"The $10 banknote celebrates two famous Australian writers, Dame Mary Gilmore and AB "Banjo" Paterson", RBA Governor Philip Lowe said.

What do you think of the new notes?

The design is similar to the new five dollar note revealed last September, featuring a revamped design, a translucent strip down the middle, and enhanced security features to reduce risk of counterfeiting.

From September 1 2017, the above bank note will begin to enter circulation in small numbers. There are also images of a pen nib in two of the clear windows and excerpts of their poetry in microprint.
